Night out on the town!

So the last couple of days have been a riot!! Yesterday we went on a scenic tour of Agasaka where the Diet (government house) is which was really nice. It's set up just like ours, at least building wise and it was actually more exciting then I thought it would be.

We have several sessions for orientation which I'm sad to say were quite boring...well maybe boring isn't the right word...how about uninteresting!!! I'm pretty sure just about all the teachers had ADHD...I don't think I've ever had more sympathy for my students than when we were in these mtgs!! They gave us a lot of rules and regulations...do's and don'ts...where you should go and shouldn't go...and of course like humans when they told us not to go somewhere our first instinct was to get a group together and plan to go and so that's what we did! And of course the rebellion was led by a Hawaiian teacher named Troi who also got a tattoo the first night in Tokyo so I automatically knew that this was gonna be a fun trip out on the town.

The town we were NOT suppose to go to was called Rappongi which I guess is notorious for gangs (oooops I mean underground groups as they told us to say) from lots of different countries. To get here we had to take the metro which wasn't as crowded as we thought it would be which was nice especially after the lengthy and multiple lectures we got about groping on the trains so we were making sure that the guys hands were kept off our tushies and that if we did by any chance get groped they would stand up for our honor...we'll see how far that gets us ;-).

Anywho back to the forbidden city...we ended up in some Sportsbars and then with the persuasion of some men on the streets 9one in particular that almost got is hand smacked because he was getting a little too close) we ended up in a decent nightclub in which we me and one other black female teacher were showing them how to have fun...but to our surprise we were almost out done by some drunk Japanese men so of course with that challenge we showed them who was boss and hands down I think we had them beat! Who knew a bunch of teachers could be so fun!

Tonight a group of us are heading to a Japanese baseball game in the rain which I know is going to be a riot because the same rebels that went out last night are heading this game adventure up so let the games begin!

Well I'm off to another session in which I will keep an open mind about and do some positive thinking...this won't be boring, this won't be boring, this won't be boring! let's see how far that gets me...Peace our cub scouts!

Oh P.S. I' try and posts some pictures tonight after the game if it isn't too late!

I've arrived!!!

So I arrived in San Francisco Saturday night...late where I was met by my two cousins. Man alive was it a late night!!! First I had to check into my hotel and then we drove an hour to Suisun, CA just so I could spend the night, get up early to see soem more cousins and then drive 1 1/2 hrs back to San Fran for my mtg! It was crazy hectic and traffic was horrible but I absolutely loved seeing the sites like the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatrez, the airport, and parts of Napa Valley. This is definately a place I would love to come back to for like a week with some friends...anyone up for the taking?

Sunday afternoon we had dinner with the Japanese Consulate which was AMAZING!!! I'll have to upload pictures! He and his wife were superb hosts and made us all feel so welcomed! You would be proud of me...I tried some new things and this time I didn't gag...I just smiled, chewed, and swallowed! YEAH!!! Oh so I'm no the best photographer in the world but on the heels of chance and luck I took an amazing picture of the sunset over the Golden gate Bridge and no I was not the only person who thought the picture was fabulous! ;-)

After the consulate dinner we came back to a gorgeous hotel where we had a little time to relax before we retired to bed for a long, long, long trip to Japan!

So, a little about some of the other teachers. I'm not the youngest teacher here. There's actually 2 of us that just finished our first year of teaching! She's really nice...from Alabama and teaches 4th grade. I've met a lot of the teachers from all the states including DC. We are definately a melting pot...there's black, white, asian, hawaiian (he's from Oahu), hispanic, arabic, and european! Some are quite old (they should be retiring soon) and some like I said are still getting our feet wet. All subjects are represented with the exception of PE and there's only two other Special Ed teachers here.

Well I'm off but I'll try and posts some pics soon!

I'm leaving on a jet plane!!!

So it's Friday night and I'm still getting ready for my trip to Japan. I leave tomorrow morning for San Francisco in which I will then meet up with 159 other teachers...I'm pretty sure I'm one of the youngest teachers on board so this should be very interesting!

After a long day of errands, packing, and just a little bit of fun I'm ready to leave on a jet plane...I'm ready see a part of the world I've never been to...I'm ready to experience things I've never experienced! Most of all I'm ready to have fun!

My host city is Tanabe, Japan which is known for it's hot springs!

I'm will try my best to update you guys at least 1-2 times a week if not more as well as add some pics! I'll return to Kona on the 26th of June but don't plan to see me until a few days later depending on how jet lagged I'll be! Peace Out!
